Help needed for garden Renewal March 24
Sarah Hutt
Hello Gardeners Help is needed on March 24th for the gardeners renewal -- this IS THE LAST DAY TO PAY FOR GARDEN PLOTS. Help is needed to take in fees. We will be at Project Place from 10 AM to NOON. (see you garden letter for more info) If you would like to pick up some community hours please email me at <info@...> If you would like to help with translation please let me know at <info@...> NEW THIS YEAR PLEASE NOTE: Due to pressure from our surrounding neighborhood - and new rules from the Trustees you will NO LONGER be able to store anything in your garden that is not related to the immediate task of gardening. No storage of unused planters, boxes, wire, bike wheels, suitcases, etc……..you must store these things off site. People that insist on using their garden for storage will be asked to leave. YOU ARE allowed to keep buckets of dirt. We realize many gardeners put a portion of the yearly compost in buckets to build up the soil - we will work with you to set a reasonable bucket limit. Over the next few weeks a working committee will be set up to develop a new policy. If you would like to participate please respond to <info@...> Gardens will need to be cleaned by April 7th during garden cleanup when we have the dumpster available there will be no exceptions.
For People Not Returning: In the past anyone that did not pay by the deadline was tracked down to confirm they were leaving. This was very time consuming and will not be done this year. If you are putting off paying and miss the date your garden will go into the March 31 Lottery. If you are not returning please return your gate keys and padlock keys - a small thing but it costs about $20 for keys and padlock for each garden so making copies adds up - recycle them!!! If you are leaving and want to remove plants or objects from the garden you must do it before March 31 the new lottery garden member will take over the garden plot on that day. thanks, more info on April 7 cleanup is coming Berkeley Community Gardens info@... cleanups@... www.berkeleygardens.org FACEBOOK/Berkeley Gardens

Re: Garden Snow Team
Hi Danielle, Your email did go to everyone, but that’s not the end of the world.
Jeremy of the Trustees, who usually just does Berkeley for us, took care of everything as our snow team hasn’t gotten out there yet.
We shovel the sidewalks only, and no not clear the doorways or any gravel surface. (Except the main door only to get the snow equipment in and out) - John Mc

Hi snow team, Apologies if this goes to all. I checked the sidewalks at the garden all look good not sure who is also clearing snow. Do the door entries need clearing as well? Danielle A102

HELP needed -- Snow shoveling
Sarah Hutt
Hello all
With the holidays upon us our Shoveling Team is a little short of help. If you would consider helping out please let me know. The Trustees have agreed to shovel/use our snow blower along E. Berkeley and will also shovel along the Shawmut and Tremont ends of the garden but we are suppose to monitor them and keep them clear since the Trustee help are responsible for all 90 gardens. We need someone who can check the area, watch the weather and let folks know when it needs to be cleared. This person can help with the work or just announce what needs to be done to coordinate for others to assist - The shovels are in the shed - There is a salt spreader in the shed to cover the sidewalks if needed to keep the sidewalk clear - and a few bags of salt and sand in the shed to add to the 50/50 mix Anyone that assists gets double hours - and we round up to the next hour so its a good way to clear up your hours for the year. If you are interested please let me know Sarah -John - Ted

October 28th Saturday Annual End of Garden Clean up and Potluck
Sarah Hutt
To all
We are looking forward to seeing everyone for our final garden gathering of the season. We will have a dumpster from Friday - Sunday so take advantage of this opportunity to open up the space in your garden !!!! Get rid of wood, buckets, old fencing and other unused things that clog up your garden over the summer. The City’s Parks Department will be distributing Daffodil bulbs for planting around Berkeley Garden - Next time you are at Home Depot consider picking up other types of bulbs to compliment the daffodils - ether donate them to the common areas or put them in and around your plot. Its only 5 months (150 days) till spring !!! If you know you are not returning this is your chance to salvage anything you want to keep - please make arrangements to leave your keys and locks !!!! If you have been working independently in the garden be sure to get your work hours in - it just takes a minute - Name, plot number, amount of time, description of what you did. <cleanups@...> Thanks everyone

Lawn Bags
Danielle Abrams <abramsmd@...>
I went in today to do some cleanup, however there were no bags around. Unfortunately, I did not have any bags either.
There is lots of loose trash. I threw what I could carry to the bins in Peter's Park. Someone threw a few wood slats and a big window on the corner near my plot. I left those for tomorrow. I looked in the shed, but did not see any bags there either. Danielle 'Sugar'-A102
